Meet Celia
Celia, the seal, is a dear little seal who just like Harry has come into some trouble with plastic. But don’t worry, they both get the help they need!

Celia got stuck in a plastic ring frisbee, a toy many like to play with unaware of it’s risks to wildlife. When left on the beach, these toys can get caught up in the ocean, like anyplastic pollution. This however poses a unique threat – entanglement.
In 2023, Wings the Seal got caught in a frisbee off the coast of Cornwall. She was aided by the Cornwall Seal sanctuary in St Ives harbour, and released back into her seaside home. This story really stuck with me, and the character of Celia began to form in my head.

How can you help?

Don’t buy plastic rings! It really is that simple. If they are never purchased they will never reach the sea, and the companies making it will get the message they are not wanted. Although they may be fun, they are not worth the risk.
If you see any abandoned, pick them up, and throw them away.
If you see a seal stuck, or in any kind of trouble, call for help. Do not approach.
Call the British divers marine life rescue on 01825 765546.
If you want to make a lasting difference:
Campaign for these ring frisbee’s to be banned. Contact your local MP’s, tell your local beach shops, and spread the word.
