Anne of Green Gables
Below is a look at my sleeve I created for the book ‘Anne of Green Gables by LM Montgomery, and a closer look at some supporting work. All done as part of my illustration module

Supporting work:
I made a few variations of this, the one to the left being watercolour instead of gouache which was my chosen final piece. I do however love the earthy tones of the watercolour, and the layers of the shadow box.

Shadow-box experiments
The above quote very much sums up my experience with this project! I’d never worked with a shadow box before, but was absolutely driven to experiment with it after seeing the illustrator Ella MacKay’s wonderful work. My set up was far more primitive than hers. Where she has a home-made wooden shadow box and light set up for her arrangement I had… A plastic drawer and a wooden drawer, my bedside lamp, and… the sun. It took a lot of experimenting to find a balance, which you can see below.
